Breathe supports bereaved children and young people in the context of their family setting. We aim to support and empower families to have healthy conversations about grief.

Breathe is a registered member of the Childhood Bereavement Network. Our volunteers are DBS checked and have regular appropriate training.

We offer individual support sessions to children and young people where they can have a safe space for children to talk about the death of a loved one, exploring and preserving memories. We use creative play, talking, journaling, games and educative tools to understand and express their grief. If you would like to refer in to this service please click the button below.

How to refer

If a loved one of yours has died we are so sorry to hear that. Please complete a referral form and we will be in contact to talk with you about the support that you would like.

Referral Process

We receive a referral.
Lis will contact the household to discuss the support they can receive. Please make sure the household contact is aware that we will be contacting them.
If we don’t hear back from the household, or need more initial information, we will contact you, the referrer, to discuss this.

Please note the Breathe admin day is currently a Friday so emails, referral forms and phone messages will be picked then.

DROP IN

We run a monthly family drop in on a Saturday morning at Barnabas Church Centre (SY3 7DN). Children, young people and parents are welcome to stay for a short time or the whole session. Refreshments, resources, toys, games, related activities are provided and Breathe volunteers are available. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and are the responsibility of that adult at the session.
